Despite the new qualifying procedure and a cap on the total number of participants,twenty-six Laker men and women qualified for NCAA Division II Nationals. This is the second largest team ever taken by Grand Valley State to Nationals. Six divers qualified: Karen Verbrugge, Rachel Strom, Katie Vulpetti, Jennifer Root, Jasmine Ramahi and Patrick VanDommelen.
Qualifying women's swimmers were Erin Kinney, Katelyn Childers, Sarah Kosmak, Kelsey Vermeer, Lauren Dorsey, Marissa Doepker, Toni Musto and Carly Bush. On the men's side; Joe Sayre, Raphael Santos, Justin Pattermann, Eric Aakesson, Jordan Schrotenboer, Aaron Beebe, Derek Mead, Aaron Marken, Collin DeHaan, Michael Griffith, Aaren Marecki and Ben Scheurich.

Lakers Finish Second at GLIAC
Both the men's and women's teams finished second at the GLIAC Championship meet this past week. The Jenison High School pool saw some very fast swimming as the conference teams battled it out. Aaron Beebe, Carly Bush, Karen Verbrugge and Jordan Schrotenboer won individual events. One of the most competitive Division II conferences in the country, the meet saw a number of National qualifying times.
